VERO BEACH INSIDER'S GUIDE

Vero Beach, Florida

A charming seaside barrier island community, unpretentiously elegant Vero Beach is one of Florida’s most idyllic locations. Known as The Hamptons of Florida for its laid back, small town ambiance & cultural landscape, Vero is divided to the West by the wide, briny waters of the Indian River estuary with a 28 mile barrier island to the East.

CROWD-FREE

Thanks to strict height and density codes, the island’s housing inventory remains fixed, supporting appreciation while keeping away sprawl. Comprised largely of single family homes and void of high rises, the barrier island offers an unparalleled quality of living, 28 miles of pristine, un‐crowded, uninterrupted white sandy Atlantic beaches and land graced by canopies of live oaks, palms, and year-long blooms. Restricted height condos are allowed on only a small portion of the island.

BARRIER ISLAND LIFESTYLE

A haven for cultural and outdoor enthusiasts, Vero is a diverse, highly educated populace of all ages and interests from families through retirees. "Called the Treasure Coast for the shipwrecked riches washed up on its beaches centuries ago, there’s still plenty of wealth turning up in Vero Beach. With lower home prices than Miami and Palm Beach barrier islands, this Atlantic Coast town’s been a Mecca for investors, well‐to‐do retirees and families flocking to the area”, says Kiplinger's.  Vero’s reputation as hub for the arts —lauded as one of 100 Great Small Arts Towns — stems from an array of high caliber literary, visual, theater and musical groups.

Other stars of Vero Beach are citrus, boating and golf, as Vero is home to 18 golf courses, a myriad of boat launches, and groves that produce the world’s finest citrus. Undergoing a dynamic revitalization, the Vero mainland offers a downtown historic district filled with unique shops and restaurants, and is connected to the barrier island by three fixed bridges. Shopping centers, theaters, restaurants across the mainland meet your every need.

Traveling to Vero is a breeze - hop on an easy flight into Melbourne, West Palm Beach, or Orlando, or take advantage of the new commercial flights directly into the Vero Beach Airport.

Mainland Vero Beach

Accessible from the barrier island by 3 fixed bridges over the Indian River, Vero's mainland offers a variety of eateries & boutiques, golf, tennis & swimming facilities, movie theaters, and all of the big box shops you could ever need. The Indian River Memorial Hospital, currently under contract to be taken over by The Cleveland Clinic, is just 5 minutes over the bridge.

Barrier Island Village

The barrier island village offers eateries and boutiques, the nationally recognized Vero Beach Museum of Art and Riverside Theatre, golf, multiple private clubs, banking, physicians, churches and markets. Dotted with independent shops & restaurants, parks, and an oceanfront boardwalk, Ocean Drive is the heart of Vero's barrier island.

The Indian River

The jewel of Vero Beach, the Indian River is a briny estuary offering wide vistas & mangrove‐filled spoil islands that serve as home to dolphin, manatee, blue crabs, heron and an abundance of other wildlife. The River is a glorious spot for birding, kayaking, fishing, sailing or boating, with deep water mooring available in many communities as well as at the city marina.
